Fischer Connectors joins the Single Pair Ethernet System Alliance to advance the development of the SPE technology across further demanding application fields

May 12, 2021 · 1 min read

Fischer Connectors has joined the Single Pair Ethernet System Alliance to bring its leading expertise in high-reliability, rugged and sealed connectivity solutions to the technology companies that form this alliance founded in April 2020.

The SPE System Alliance is an open platform for companies from various industries and fields of application that want to bundle their respective expertise and create the cross-application synergies able to further advance, promote and help the SPE technology reach its full potential.

Another goal is to develop international standards able to facilitate the implementation of the technology worldwide.

Application fields are the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), automotive, building automation, sensor technology, and rugged industrial environments such as wet food production, chemical plants, industrial seaports, mines, oil rigs, and unmanned aerial vehicles – to name only a few of the sectors which benefit from the smaller, lighter, more affordable version of Ethernet.

With its harsh-environment connectivity solutions, Fischer Connectors can enhance applications used in demanding industrial environments which call for IP68-sealed solutions in corrosion-resistant material, as well as blind mating solutions that make it easier to connect confined and hard-to-access areas. In defense and security applications, SPE connectivity solutions that are sealed and resist to shock and vibration are ideal to guarantee the continuity of signal transmission for unmanned aerial, ground and underwater vehicles (UAVs, UGVs and UUVs).

New VIDEO > Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) – LIVE DEMO with Fischer Connectors: How efficient is Fischer Connectors’ Single Pair Ethernet connectivity solution? The first part of this demo video shows how easily the flow of two 300 MB videos is transmitted in both directions simultaneously between two laptops interconnected via a Single Pair Ethernet cable with Fischer MiniMax™ connectors.

The integration of this SPE solution to the laptops is made via a transceiver that translates the SPE signal into the Ethernet signal directly readable by the laptops. In the second part, transmission rates are measured with pre-defined bit streams (up to 100 Mbit/s), which shows that the Fischer Connectors solution maintains signal integrity.
