For our new Plant in Amarante, near Oporto, Portugal, we are looking for a Import/Export Specialist based in Portugal and reporting to headquarters in Switzerland.

The objective of the position is to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness and timely delivery to customers within our global supply chain, and to target Supply Chain Excellence.

The successful applicant will have as main missions to optimize and create global flows within our global footprint (US and EMEA) involving our production sites, customers and suppliers

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN YOUR ROLE:

  • Coordinate and ensure the correct execution of international import and export operations, ensuring compliance with applicable customs regulations and legislation.
  • Manage and monitor customs clearance processes, working closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers and other logistics partners.
  • Ensure the correct application of customs duties, tariffs, taxes and import/export requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with customs and international trade regulations, identifying potential risks and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Follow up on customs documentation and ensure the accuracy and completeness of import/export documentation.
  • Coordinate international logistics flows across different sites and countries, ensuring efficient and compliant processes.
  • Interact with logistics operators, freight forwarders, customs brokers and internal stakeholders to resolve operational and customs-related issues.
  • Analyze logistics and customs data, identify improvement opportunities and optimize existing import/export flows.
  • Monitor relevant regulatory and legislative changes and assess their potential impact on the company’s international trade operations.
  • Use data and reporting tools to identify deviations, monitor performance and support data-driven decision-making.

 

THE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU WILL BRING

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, International Commerce, Logistics or a related field.
  • Professional experience in Import/Export and Customs within an international industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import/export legislation and international trade compliance.
  • Practical experience with customs clearance processes, customs duties, tariff classification / HS codes, rules of origin, customs valuation and Incoterms.
  • Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers and logistics operators.
  • Solid understanding of import/export documentation and customs requirements.
  • SAP: 5+ years of daily professional experience is required.
  • Excel: proficiency required, particularly in using Power Query for efficient data extraction, transformation and manipulation.
  • Power BI: proficiency required, for data visualization and reporting and transforming complex datasets into actionable insights.
  • English: full professional proficiency, minimum C1.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex logistics and customs issues and identify effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when dealing with regulatory requirements and documentation.
  • Ability to structure, analyze and simplify large and complex topics, identifying key risks, priorities and actions.
  • Availability to work fully on-site during the onboarding period, with the possibility of hybrid work after successful completion of the integration period.

Maximum budget for this position: €35,000 gross annual salary, depending on the candidate’s assessment and fulfilment of the position’s requirements and criteria.
