Customer voice: audited and certified to the highest quality, safety and reliability industry standards
August 6, 2026 · 4 LesezeitThis feedback comes from one of the many customers who have visited Conextivity Group’s new state-of-the-art production center in Amarante, near Porto, Portugal. The site was inaugurated in 2024 as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the technology group that owns Fischer Connectors.
It’s the kind of reaction the site has become known for: customers arrive to audit a process, and leave with confidence in a partner.
Several customer audits, one shared purpose
Fischer Connectors’ manufacturing sites are regularly audited by customers from highly regulated sectors such as medical device manufacturers and defense OEMs.
These audits serve different purposes: assessing our practices, approving a site for production, or validating the transfer of a product’s manufacturing to a new location. Certification audits, meanwhile, confirm our compliance with the ISO standards relevant to our business.
Whatever the purpose, audits generally combine two parts: a documentation review of the processes we have in place to manage our operations, and an on-the-floor assessment of how we run them in practice – covering logistics, manufacturing, quality (incoming, in-process, and customer quality), and supply chain (purchasing, planning, and shipping).
Certified where it matters most: quality
At the core of every audit is our quality management system. The Fischer Connectors organization is ISO 9001:2015 certified, placing customer satisfaction at the heart of everything we do and ensuring consistent excellence in meeting customer requirements.
For customers in the medtech and medical device industry specifically, our ISO 13485:2016 certification confirms that we manufacture products that are safe and reliable for integration into medical devices – a critical assurance given that patient safety is always the primary concern.
Alongside quality, we hold certifications reflecting our broader responsibilities.
Our ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental management system helps us manage waste, prevent contamination, and reduce our environmental impact across the lifecycle of our connectivity solutions.
And on the people side, our ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management certification ensures we identify, control, and reduce workplace health and safety risks for our employees and visitors alike.
A broader web of standards and accreditations
Beyond these core ISO certifications, Fischer Connectors maintains a wide range of standards and accreditations that reflect the breadth of the industries we serve.
- Quality: KTA 1401 (Germany’s Nuclear Safety Standards Commission), IAEA 50-C-Q (International Atomic Energy Agency)
- Environmental responsibility: RoHS, REACH, TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act), Proposition 65, Sony Green Partner
- People and societal responsibility: Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct, Dodd-Frank conflict minerals compliance, hexavalent chromium-free metal treatment (Cr(VI))
- Supply chain: JOSCAR (Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register, UK)
Product standards and qualification: proven performance beyond the factory
Customer audits primarily focus on evaluating Fischer Connectors’ quality management systems, manufacturing processes, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
The performance, reliability, and robustness of the final products are validated separately, through an equally rigorous framework of industry standards, qualification programs, and application-specific testing:
- Sealing and mechanical/environmental resistance: IP68/IP69-rated sealing across the Core, MiniMax, UltiMate and FiberOptic Series, qualified to withstand shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, water ingress, and repeated mating cycles
- Military and defense: MIL-SPEC-aligned qualification, e.g., Fischer KEYSTONE hubs tested to MIL-STD-810 (environmental) and MIL-STD-461 (EMC), supporting Nett Warrior and NATO STANAG 4695 / 4851 interoperability
- Electrical and data performance: 360° EMC shielding and signal integrity optimization
- Medical: IEC 60601-1 compliance supporting MOPP (Means of Patient Protection) and MOOP (Means of Operator Protection) requirements, underpinned by ISO 13485 certification
What it all adds up to
With 70+ years of expertise in high-performance connectivity for harsh environments, Fischer Connectors designs and manufactures connectors, cable assemblies, and electronic solutions that meet the stringent requirements of essential markets such as medical, defense, test & measurement, instrumentation, and energy.
Together, these standards, specifications, and certifications add up to one thing: confidence, earned through rigorous testing and proven on the shop floor and in the field – the same confidence customers describe after every audit.
Fischer Connectors technical teams work closely with customers to optimize the form, fit, and function of their end-to-end connectivity solution, backed by technical support in their region.
