For our new Plant in Amarante, near Oporto, Portugal, we are looking for a Quality Engineer.

 

The mission of a Quality Engineer is to ensure the quality of our products and the satisfaction of our customers.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN YOUR ROLE:

  • Ensure the quality of manufactured products by supporting production teams in performing the required inspections and controls;
  • Perform product validation activities (control plans, first article inspection reports, acceptance reports, etc.);
  • Manage non-conformities and customer complaints;
  • Lead problem-solving activities, root cause analysis, and follow up on the implementation of corrective and preventive actions;
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the technical documentation applicable to products and processes (work instructions, procedures, etc.);
  • Ensure proper segregation and control of non-conforming products;
  • Plan and conduct shop floor audits (product/process audits, Gemba walks);
  • Deliver training to employees on work instructions, procedures, and quality requirements;
  • Propose and implement improvements to the quality assurance process, aiming to reduce non-conforming parts and scrap levels;
  • Supervise sorting activities and approve rework operations;
  • Escalate any doubts, anomalies, or situations requiring production stoppage to the Quality Coordinator;
  • Comply with all company procedures, policies, and code of conduct;
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and requirements;
  • Use the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) and collective protection measures;
  • Comply with company initiatives and rules aimed at reducing resource waste, including reduction, reuse, and recycling practices.

THE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU WILL BRING:

Professional skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management Engineering, or a related field);
  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer or Quality Technician, preferably within the automotive industry;
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanics, engineering drawings interpretation, manufacturing processes, injection molding, surface treatment processes, assembly operations, and testing/inspection methods;
  • Experience in managing non-conformities and customer complaints;
  • Experience in applying problem-solving methodologies (Ishikawa, 5 Whys, 8D, etc.) and implementing corrective and preventive actions;
  • Knowledge of management system standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 13485;
  • Knowledge of measurement and inspection equipment, including their proper use, calibration awareness, and maintenance requirements;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and SAP;
  • Languages: English required; French and/or German would be considered an advantage;
  • Previous experience with SAP will be highly valued.
