Manufacturing Process Engineer (Cable Assembly)

For our Cable Assembly Global Supply Chain department, we are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to maintain and improve the manufacturing processes in order to increase production efficiency and quality. The Cable Assembly (CA) Manufacturing Process Engineer will be the global referent of CA processes to ensure efficiency and product quality all over the different assembly sites mostly external (5 sites in EMEA). You will be the technical support for production and the leader of process improvement.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN YOUR ROLE

 

  1. New products/processes introduction on cable assembly sites (mostly external):
  • Understand key technical points and potential production challenges for each new product
  • Support production teams to ensure process efficiency and product quality
  • Support introduction of new cable assembly products on different assembly sites for development projects
  • Create and communicate up-to-date work instructions for special processes of production and testing
  • Organize training for operations and production teams
  • Coordinate realization of machine parameters setting and validation
  • Documentation of manufacturing related deliverable and tests
  • Raise engineering change request for non-adapted designs
  • Adapt production routings, tooling and times in collaboration with method engineers when required
  • Support capacity management while defining and documenting capabilities on specific processes of each external site
  • Key processes are: Stripping, Soldering, manual and automatic Crimping, Potting, Molding, seal & electrical testing

 

  1. Continuous improvement:
  • As Technical Support to production, support cable assembly production sites in case of issues with production process or inadequate tooling resource. Liaise with all the different involved departments (engineering, quality, production, methods, planning, logistics…)
  • Analyze efficiency of production processes. Initiate and implement continuous improvement actions to increase production, process, supply-chain flow efficiency and production quality
  • Propose and support implementation of improvement opportunities to reduce wastes, cost, complexity and lead time
  • Actively participate to standardization projects between all production sites
  • Perform on site checks and audits to ensure standard CA processes are understood and respected. Support continuous training of production teams
  • Project Management on the continuous improvement actions/projects. Manage project and coordinate related tasks, until implementation and proper validation while documenting progress updates, acceptance and tests report, including meeting minutes and required deliverables

 

  1. Change Management:
  • Ensure that all technical changes are understood, validated and applicable. Support production teams during the implementation phase.
  • Support methods to create and adjust dedicated work instructions when required.
  • Support methods to update BOM and routings or other master data according to change needs.

 


THE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU WILL BRING

  • Mechanical machining and assembly and/or electrical assembly background (Engineering level preferred)
  • 5 years of experience in a similar environment
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and datasheet
  • Project coordination experience
  • Good knowledge of SAP software, modules PP/MM preferred
