Easy-to-use and Rugged Mechanical & Color Keying Systems

Proper alignment of mating connector is important as it prevents mis-connection of and damage to the contacts. The Fischer Connectors designed keying system is unique in its ability to easily ensure correct connection of opposing contacts. The alignment mechanism precisely guides the connection making it convenient and simple for end-users, while protecting the contacts. Resistant, our keying system won't bind or jam, even if the mating connectors are firmly pushed together during the alignment and mating process.

Our keying system consists of a pair of semi-circular guides, which are brought into alignment by rotating one or both of the mating connectors. Only when the guides are precisely positioned can the connectors be mated.

To prevent mis-mating between otherwise identical connectors mounted on a single chassis, we provide variations in the geometry of the semi-circular guides (see below table). When combined with colour-coded accessories, such as cable strain-reliefs and washers, alternate keying is an effective, easy-to-use method to prevent unwanted mis-mating of connectors.
